Dansehallerne is a national center for dance and choreography. Our focus lies in presenting and co-producing Danish and international productions for all ages. We are a gathering point for passionate dance audiences and professionals. From our center, we communicate professional knowledge of the art of dance, and we drive discussions about all aspects of the art of dance, at an intermediate level and in-depth.
As a member, you can take part in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately five days of training per week. / Kun som medlem kan du deltage i Dansehallernes træningsaktiviteter – et helårsprogram med cirka fem dages træning om ugen. From the curators
"My perspective in the curation is to bring forth physical practices that lay the ground work for progressive contemporary dance as an art form. I find that one of the most beautiful aspects of dance is that we can take part in each other’s practices and grow both knowledge about new kinds of embodiment but also about where we come from as dancers ourselves.
A central focus has been to invite teachers that are not only incredible movers and interesting artists but also know how to create a good space for learning. Teaching and coaching is in itself an art. I have an immense respect for the craft of teaching; the ability to facilitate exchange verbally as well as non-verbally and to continuously learn as a teacher is crucial for developing as a field as well as artists.
Dance has always been a meeting point and a social practice across cultures. I see the professional training as a space of immense potential for out field and art form: a collegial space that allow us to meet, exchange and develop as movers and choreographic practitioners together. "
- Ar Utke Acs, curator season 23/24
"Overall, my contribution to the curation of the professional training 23/24 reflects my ambition to optimize a still more inclusive program, that reflects the field of dance in modern time, and which helps freelance dancers to maintain and develop their bodies and minds, preparing them for working a variety of different jobs.
I adhere to the idea that a healthy balance between how we think, execute and feel dance makes for the richest practice for any interpreting dancer
Acknowledging the spread of genres covered by our members, ive thus curated some teachers who are themselves working in the cross-over of genres, supporting the universal applicability of particular techniques, while others remain specialists in their fields of practice."
